Our problem to solve:
In Fall of 2018, Umami PGH was on the tail end of an exciting 1st three years as a cool go to spot for sushi and Japanese street food and sporting a solid but under-highlighted beverage program. We were hired to improve their existing customer base and drive traffic from Instagram to their website to increase reservations and increase overall customer interaction.
Our process:
We optimized their solid IG following but which had plateau't at around 3K followers. With a new policy of engaging with their superfoodie culture of IG, and creating an organic environment that rewarded participation by sharing the glowing and eye popping user generated content that the most passionate 10% were offering up for free!
Our results:
Within a year we had doubled their IG following, which coincided with winning best Japanese Restaurant and Best Sushi in Pittsburgh from the Pittsburgh City Paper. Within 2 years we had tripled their following and increased engagement by 800%, which translated to more people navigating to the website and making reservations (money in the bank). Sales increased by 75%, and in an industry with a notoriously short life span, Umami was able to get a second wind, and continue to attract new customers in the city and even solidify itself as a destination restaurant to travelers outside of PGH!
